The program

The 10-session Inklings Program uses short videos of a parent interacting with their baby to help them to better understand the different ways that their baby communicates their thoughts, feelings and needs. With the guidance of a trained practitioner, parents allow their baby to direct their own play and lead interactions with others while building on their own strengths as a responsive communication partner for their baby.

What does an Inklings session involve?

All sessions involve recording a short 5-6 minute video of a parent with their baby and then reviewing the video together with your practitioner. Through pausing and discussing the video, sessions aim to develop a parent’s understanding of their baby’s behaviour and responses and learn how best to support their baby’s social communication development.

At the end of each session, the practitioner will assist the parent to develop a plan for incorporating key messages from the session into their daily routine.

The program is carried out by parents/caregivers, who are the most important people in their baby's life.
