Inklings in Western Australia is funded by the NDIA for a three-year pilot period that commenced in November 2023 – we are now over halfway through the pilot period.
In this time, more than 599 families have been referred or self-referred into the program, and 343 have commenced the program.
There are two ways families can be referred to the Inklings program:
During year two, 118 boys and 63 girls commenced Inklings, continuing the trend of higher male enrolment seen in year 1. Since the program’s launch,
211 boys (61.5%) and 132 girls (38.5%) have commenced Inklings.

Families who are engaging in the WA pilot have been from across the state, including 75% from metropolitan areas, 14% regional and 18% remote.

Inklings sessions are delivered through three modes: in clinic, home visits, and Telehealth. Year two saw a total of 1,338 sessions completed across all delivery partners. The majority took place in clinics, with 886 sessions completed (66.2%). Telehealth accounted for 350 sessions (26.2%), while home visits comprised 102 sessions (7.6%)
